The Story Behind the Logo

Ian Dean, lead singer of the Orlando band, Tangent, heard a few of the stories authored by people with Alzheimer’s and related dementias. Inspired, he wrote this song, which was later recorded by the band:

Islands

throw your sail into the wind
the life you’ve led has led you back where you began
it’s your turn again to dream
in those places in your mind that you have been

we all sail away (we all sail away)
I don’t want to go, but I’ll captain my ship anyway
maybe it will be my dream
my vision of the way things could have been

have I gone too far?
am I wind or sail?
do we have to make decisions?
am I losing touch?

it’s too late now to turn around (no turning around)
in an ocean full of islands, we can find some ground
though the storms will come and go
there is always sunlight that slips through the clouds

have I gone too far?
am I wind or sail?
do we have to make decisions?
am I losing touch?

have I gone too far?
am I wind or sail?
we don’t have to make decisions
am I losing touch?

am I losing touch?
am I losing touch?
will I set foot upon the shore?
