Caregivers

caregiverWelcome to the Invisible Poets website. If you care for someone who has Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias (ADRD) and you are interested in helping them get started with storytelling, you have two options:

1. If you are in the Central Florida area, fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page, and someone will reply within a few days.

2. If you are not in the Central Florida area, go to TimeSlips.org and click “Start a Story.” Unfortunately, Alzheimer Chronicles, Inc. (the non-profit organization for Invisible Poets) is limited to the Central Florida area at this time.

Please note, people with mid to late stage Alzheimer’s disease or moderate to severe dementia are quite often the best storytellers, especially in a group setting. Motions, gestures, and sounds can have a ripple effect among other storytellers and change the dynamics of a story. For example, watch The Power of Music (a short video on our Resources page). The video pertains to music, but a storytelling workshop has a very similar effect on people who are otherwise disengaged.

Other storytelling opportunities will be listed on the Resources page soon. This website is still under construction, but new content is being added daily, so please visit again.

We would love to hear from you!
